How to set proxy in Safari

How to set your proxy in safari:

  • From the main menu choose 'Safari' - 'Preferences'
  • Click on the 'Advanced' icon at the top right of the window,
  • Near the bottom of the window, beside 'Proxies', click on 'Change Settings...'. The Network Preferences should display
  • Click on the currently enabled connection - the one with the green dot
  • Click Advanced on the right bottom side of the window
  • Click Proxies Tab
  • Select Configure Proxies to : Manually
  • Check Web Proxy (HTTP) and enter the proxy IP and port, your proxies are delivered as PROXY_IP:PORT_NUMBER like for example1.2.3.4:0000 so in this example 1.2.3.4 would be the IP and 0000 would be the port number
  • Click Ok and then Apply and close the network Box
  • Browse to www.whatismyipaddress.com or www.iplocation.net to check that it shows the IP of your proxy as being your own
